Has anyone heard about the possible merger between BCM, one of the only stand-alone medical schools in the country, and Rice University? Imagine that harmony in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. Private university + private medical school = lots of reputability and funding. Both institutions would benefit tremendously!

Since the events of September 11th, the media has grown fond of associating any unorthodox activities in the world with “religious extremists.” However, how does one define the line beyond which actions may be deemed “extreme?” This topic is extremely broad, so I’ll just share my own views on my faith and what I consider to be extreme.
So in commemoration of the Indian New Year, I had to take my mom to her favorite Indian restaurant in Houston - Bhojan. Unfortunately for me, mommy dearest is a vegetarian, and that particular restaurant only served Gujarati veg-food.

Applying to medical school is quite a roller coaster of events. Students rush to submit their primary application, and then they wait. Then they rush to submit their secondary application and then wait for interview invitations. After receiving an invite, they wait for the actual interview day. After the actual interview day, they wait for an acceptance/rejection letter. This is some cruel game which has apparently worked for many years and will probably remain the same for a… long… long… time.
I don’t understand investors. Some Wall Street analysts state that not only are we in a recession, but flirting with another economic depression on the horizon. 79 years ago today, the United States stock market crashed leading our country into a decade of unemployment, corruption, and overall stifling of the “American dream.” Now, these so-called experts predict we’re on the brink of reviving that financial nightmare. I’ll admit, our economy has been in better shape; however, we have come a long way since 1929. Our economy will ultimately recover, and for those smart individuals out there, this is a time to make long-term investments.
