For some Texas medical school applicants, there comes a point where they must decide between matriculating to Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Southwestern. Why is this such a tough decision? Quite frankly, both schools are fantastic. They’re the top two in Texas according to US News. They each have unique amenities and consequently there are pros and cons associated with each institution.
Has anyone heard about the possible merger between BCM, one of the only stand-alone medical schools in the country, and Rice University? Imagine that harmony in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. Private university + private medical school = lots of reputability and funding. Both institutions would benefit tremendously! ![]()

So today was probably the most important day of my life - my Baylor College of Medicine interview. After being awe struck by the faculty, facilities, and students, I was even more convinced that having BCM as my “dream school” was indeed a wise choice.
Hurricane Ike really made my University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) interview experience very interesting. Everyone showed a great deal of care by asking about my family back home in Houston; however, I didn’t want this Hurricane to detract from my main focus - showing my interviewers what I’m all about.
